Description

The METARUN shoe by ASICS adapts to your individual running style. It’s built with advanced technology and comfort for an appropriate running experience. FLYTEFOAM technology in the midsole delivers a smooth ride from the moment your foot hits the ground to the time you toe off. GEL technology cushioning in the heel offers soft, durable impact protection. Three different technologies in the METARUN shoe work together to stabilize the foot and guide it forward for an efficient toe off. The upper not only wraps the foot like a glove but works with the midsole to complement the sole’s stability. Soft flexible internal bands lock the midfoot over the sole and run back into the heel where they tie into the METACLUTCH technology system, to stabilize the heel for excellent rearfoot hold. The METARUN shoe offers excellent stability and comfort. Its adaptive nature and the premium underfoot feel make the METARUN shoe a great choice for beginning runners and experienced marathoner alike.

I was super hopeful that these would be as great as the reviews I read. I normally wear Asics Gel-Kayanos because I need a stability shoe, and they work great for me, so when I saw these, and saw they too were stability shoes but with all the bells and whistles, I was really excited. My first run was a 12 miler and I experienced aches and pains in my ankles, which I've never had before. I've never had to break in my Kayanos so I thought a long run would be good but thought, okay, I guess I need to break these in. Went out again the next week, another 12 miles and by mile 7 began experiencing knee pain first in my right knee, then my left. If I stopped to walk it would dissipate but if I ran again it hurt. I never experience ANY pain in my Kayanos. So I don't know if these are better for low mileage runs, although they certainly aren't described that way. I am unsure if I even want to run in them again because of the random pains I experienced both runs, but even with the great price here on Amazon, they are still expensive to just sit in the closet. But running in pain is not good so I don't know what I'll do. Overall I am super bummed because I was really hoping they would do as well as the Kayanos but I guess I will be back to wearing those.Update: I ended up wearing these for another three months and the pain lessened but never completely went away. Even after breaking them in they were never truly comfortable so I finally gave up and ordered a new pair of Kayanos. Ran nine miles in them right off the bat, no issues. I'll be sticking with those from now on.
