I purchased this shoe because it is very hard to find any kind of comfortable light weight but sturdy waterproof hiking shoe. And I have tried them all. They were a little stiff at first but they accommodated my orthotics so I took the time to break them in and I am so pleased. They remained dry through muddy fall yardwork and were warm and dry through shoveling a foot of snow. The sole hasn't broken down and remains very supportive. The affordable price was amazing.Love the fit, the red color how tough the shoes are. I hike 2 twice daily and so far these shoes are slip proof, toe protecting, water proof and comfortable! This shoe fits tight (I have a wide foot) it is waterproof, slips on and off without tying the laces. I like them.7.5 D was more like 8 C - too long and too narrow. They were also very stiff.Very heavy and stiff, despite giving time to break them in.I bought these in a German Jack Wolfskin shop for 85 euro. Wore them today for a 3 mile hike in woods. Not waterproof. My toes weren't pinched, but not comfortable. Disappointed.Look great and appear to be sturdy... But a little narrow across toes and very rigid I bought straight 6 but should have gone bigger with wide. I thought I would be able to break them in with a little wear but caused pain under toes.At the prices Jack Wolfskin charge for their branded clothing, I expect comfort, durability and functionality. These hiking trainers were a complete let-down. They took weeks to wear in, could only ever be worn with gel insoles, leaked in heavy downpours, and at the 6 month mark, began falling apart. These are my first pair of walking boots and I just love them. At first they felt very restrictive but after wearing them around for a couple of hours I got used to them and they are now my favourite footwear. I have had foot surgery and finding suitable footwear is a real problem but these are amazing. If you are buying your first pair of walking boots just bear in mind they have a firm and solid support, not soft and flexible like trainers.Love love love. Got them because all my boots have leaks in their soles and these won't! Bought a half size bigger as my partner wears Wolfskin, so knew they'd be a bit snug, as it's nice to wear chunky socks to make the very supportive ankle part of the boots super-cushiony. When you walk in these you feel like you've got caterpillar tracks on, there's something about not having the toe of the sole flat with the ground that makes you feel like you're rolling forward indomitably. Lovely quality, no blisters or rubbing, first wear onwards. Highly recommended! They are a little higher around the ankle than expected but comfortable.
